31st Annual Kodansha Manga Award Winners Announced

Japanese publisher Kodansha has announced the winners of its 31st annual manga awards, one of the manga industry’s most prestigious awards.

Asa Higuchi’s baseball manga Ookiku Furikabutte was awarded the grand prize. The anime television series adaptation of Ookiku Furikabutte is currently airing on the TBS network.

Etsushi Ogawa’s “Tenshi no Fry Pan” was named best children’s manga of the year.

Kouji Kumeta’s Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei (soon to be adapted as an anime TV series) and Hiroki Yagami’s Dear Boys act II shared the honor for best shonen manga of the year.

Chiyo Rokuhana’s I.S. manga was named best shoujo title.
