Viz Acquires Sailor Moon Anime Rights
Viz Media has acquired the domestic distribution rights to both the original 200-episode Sailor Moon anime television series and this summer’s new Sailor Moon Crystal anime series. The Viz license for the original franchise includes all five seasons, all three feature films, and the specials. The series premieres online today and will be released on uncut DVD & Blu-ray later this year featuring a brand new English dub along with original subtitled Japanese langauge. The prior American home video release of the 1990’s Sailor Moon franchise was missing episodes 67 and 167-200 and all of the supplemental specials.
The 26-episode Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Crystal series will premiere online on July 5. Two episodes will be released on the first and third Saturday of each month. Suite Precure director Munehisa Sakai is directing the new series as a faithful reboot adaptation of Naoko Takeuchi’s original manga.

I will simply repeat here what I said elsewhere. When I first read about this, I was ecstatic without going into details of course. When the release date is announced most likely in July at AX, I will be pre-ordering the Blu-ray version.

If you wanna support these shows (Cardcaptor Sakura and Sailor Moon) because you love them that’s fine. But don’t do it because GATS told you so, its very apparent that he has an agenda. Since if you buy any type of moe or ecchi-type anime you’re buying “cheap carny MTV garbage” and are being “scammed” into buying it, not because you like it!
