Voice Actor Ichiro Nagai Dead at 82

82-year-old veteran voice actor Ichiro Nagai was found dead in a Hiroshima City hotel this past Monday morning. Nagai’s agency Aoni Production reports that the actor succumbed to coronary artery disease. Nagai’s numerous memorable anime roles include Dr. Sado in Uchuu Senkan Yamato, Jigoro Inokuma in Yawara!, Cherry in Urusei Yatsura, Happosai in Ranma 1/2, and Mito in Kaze no Tani no Nausicaa. Nagai was currently playing the role of Netero in the ongoing Hunter x Hunter television anime, and played the part of the old ramen shop owner in this month’s second episode of Space Dandy.
