Toren Smith Predicts Manga Bubble Burst

The Comics Journal has published an interview with Toren Smith, the founder of Studio Proteus and one of the leading forces in the popularization of English translated manga in America, in which Smith basically announces his retirement from the American manga publishing industry and predicts that publishers including TOKYOPOP that prioritize “quantity over quality” are steadily eroding the longevity of the American manga publishing industry and leading the industry toward a market bust.
