Third Round of Anime Mirai Studios Revealed

The Anime Mirai project has announced the four studios that will participate in the “2012 Young Animator Training Project.” Out of 18 studios that applied for funding, Gonzo, Trigger, Pierrot, and Madhouse will each receive 38 million yen ($480,000 USD) from the Japanese government’s Agency for Cultural Affairs to produce a 30 minute original anime supervised by veteran animators and largely produced by novice professionals.

Koichi Chigira (Gatekeepers, Full Metal Panic) will direct the “Ryo” anime short at Gonzo with Shinichiro Ishikawa (Kiddy Grade, Hellsing) producing.

Jinroh & Evangelion key animator Yoh Yoshinari will direct the “Little Witch Academia” short at studio Trigger with Naoko Tsutsumi (Panty & Stocking, Black Rock Shooter TV) producing.

Sugarless Factory’s experimental shorts director Kenji Muto will direct the “TV Family Channel Jacker” short at studio Pierrot with Manyo Oshikiri (Midori no Hibi, Juuni Koukuki) producing.

Shigurui & Steins;Gate episode director Yuzuru Tachikawa will direct the “Death Billiards” short at Madhouse with Takuya Tsunoki (Casshern Sins, Chihayafuru) producing.
