Manga Creator Admits to Plagiarizing Other Manga

Manga artist Suetsugu Yuki has admitted to copying art from Takehiko Inoue’s Slam Dunk manga for her own manga story Eden no Hana. In response to public controversy over the discovery of the artistic similarities, Kodansha has ceased publication of Yuki’s completed 12 volume Eden no Hana manga series and the monthly serialization of the artist’s current work, Silver. Suetsugu Yuki’s official homepage was closed on October 16th.

TOKYOPOP has announced plans to publish the first English translated volume of Eden no Hana (“Flowers of Eden”) on January 10th, 2006. It’s presently unknown if the Japanese status of the work will effect its American release.
