Parasyte to Get Multiple Adaptations

Takashi Yamazaki (Space Battleship Yamato, Always: Sunset on Third Street) will direct a pair of live-action films based on Hitoshi Iwaaki’s 1990-1995 sci-fi/horror manga Parasyte (“Kiseiju”). Always: Sunset on Third Street screenwriter Ryuta Kosawa will script the films. The first movie will tentatively premiere in December 2014. The second picture will follow in 2015.

Reportedly, an anime TV series will also be produced for concurrent broadcast with the live-action film release.

The gory horror manga about a teen boy who’s right arm is possessed by an alien parasite has been published in English by Tokyopop, Del Rey, and Kodansha Comics.
