New Yamato Anime Project Announced

73-year-old Space Battleship Yamato anime producer Yoshinobu Nishizaki has opened the “Yamato Studio” in Tokyo in order to produce the “Uchuu Senkan Yamato Fukkatsu-hen” (Space Battleship Yamato: Revival Chapter) anime. A staff of about 40 animators will finally develop the project, which was first discussed as early as 1994.

After the original 1972 Yamato anime franchise ended in 1983, the unfinished Yamato 2520 video series premiered in 1994, and the Dai Yamato Zero-go video series premiered in 2004.
