New Media Blasters DVD Announcements

Media Blasters has officially announced release dates for two new genre DVDs- Samurai: Hunt for the Sword and Mechanical Violator Hakaider.

Samurai: Hunt for the Sword (not to be confused with the 1980s comedy OAV The Samurai licensed for US distribution by AD Vision) will contain both 30 minute OAV episodes of Kaitouranma, an AIC produced samurai action/comedy based on a Playstation game. Fans of Saber Marionette J will especially want to check out this show, as its style is very similar, and the character design for the OAVs was done by Tsukasa Kotobuki, who also provided the character designs for Saber Marionette J. Dubbed VHS and bilingual DVD featuring bonus dub outtakes will be available for $19.95 and $24.95 respectively on May 29th.

Keita (Zeiram, Moon Over Tao) Amemiya’s live action adaptation of Mechanical Violator Hakaider will also be coming to dubbed VHS and bilingual DVD on May 29th. The DVD version will include both the 60 minute theatrical version and the 77 minute director’s cut in widescreen presentation, along with an art gallery and interactive menus. The VHS dub will retail for $19.95 and the DVD will retail for $29.95.
