New Details about Bandai Visual American Branch Revealed

Bandai Visual USA has formally announced plans for a line of American anime DVDs titled “Honneamise.” The “Honneamise” line will parallel the “Criterion” line of archival DVDs in the regard that Honneamise DVDs will be released in standard disc editions and limited edition bonus feature laden versions. The first Honneamise series DVD release will be Patlabor the Movie, scheduled for domestic release on April 25, 2006 in a standard edition and a double disc limited edition that will include new package illustrations by Yutaka Izubuchi, remastered 5.1 audio, a new English dub, a making of documentary, Japanese trailers and TV commercials, the complete 300-page storyboard book drawn by Mamoru Oshii with an English translation, and a second book of interviews, articles, artwork and drawings. Japanese news site AV Watch hosts an image of the prototype limited edition package. Details on the second Honneamise series DVD, Patlabor movie 2, will be announced next summer.
