More Details on Upcoming DVDs

In an attempt to create an ultimate version of Akira on DVD, Pioneer has confirmed that the original Streamline bud audio track may be included on the upcoming Akira DVD release. Inclusion of the early Streamline dub, though, with its dated, inferior sound quality, may reduce the overall bitrate of the movie DVD. If such is the case, the Streamline dub will be removed in order to maintain the DVDs THX certification. Pioneer is still ironing out the details over what supplementary material will be included on the second DVD in the collectors edition set. Likely possibilities include production reports/”making of” features and a “making of” featurette focusing on the soundtrack.

Manga Entertainment is progressing on track to have the Evangelion movies available in the US by the end of the year. Dubbing is scheduled to begin soon, and project director Amanda Winn-Lee has stated that, “We hope to pack as many extra goodies on the DVD as we possibly can” including an audio commentary track with the American staff & cast and “tons of easter eggs.” Manga Entertainment has actually opened the floor to the fans. Send your suggestions and recommendations for the American Evangelion movies DVD release to director Amanda Winn-Lee or Keith Burgess of Manga Entertainment
