Japanese Theatrical Anime Announcements

As of August 13th, Studio Ghibli’s Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi has grossed over 10 billion yen. In only 25 days of release, the film has earned 10,154,271,880 yen (close to $85.5 million dollars) and drawn nearly 8 million viewers. By comparison, Mononoke Hime (currently Japan’s second highest grossing film of all time, second only to Titanic) grossed 18 billion yen, but over a period of 8 months.

The Cowboy Bebop movie will premier in Japanese theaters on September 1st.
