Japanese Manga-ka to Self Publish in America

Gutsoon! Entertainment has announced plans to begin the weekly distribution of an English language manga magazine entitled Raijin Comics this fall. Gutsoon! Entertainment is the American arm of Japanese independent published Coamix, the publisher of best selling Japanese manga magazine Comic Bunch, and a company created by editor Horie Nobuhiko, artists Hojo Tsukasa (City Hunter), Hara Tetsuo (Hokuto no Ken), Tsugihara Ryuji (Yoroshiku Mechadog) and voice actor Kamiya Akira (Ryo Saeba).

The publication of Raijin Comics is both the creator’s way to express their creativity without the intense pressure of publisher deadlines common in the Japanese manga industry, and way to expand the market for manga into America. Raijin Comics will be America’s first weekly manga anthology and the first Japanese manga anthology in America published by the original artists themselves.
