Gojira: Final Wars Officially Announced

The official Japanese Godzilla website has updated to reveal that “Godzilla: Final Wars” will be released theatrically on December 11th, the 50th anniversary of the release of the original Gojira movie on December 11, 1954. Various Japanese news sources including ZAKZAK and the Yomiuri News have revealed several facts about the new film.

Ryuhei Kitamura will direct the movie.

The film will include appearances from at least 10 different monsters, including a new “Monster X,” the toughest opponent Godzilla has ever faced.

Locations will include New York, Shangai, and Paris, in addition to Japan.

Godzilla: Final Wars will be the final Godzilla movie of this generation. After this film, there won’t be another new film for 5 to 10 years.

Unlike the previous three Godzilla films, Final Wars will not be a double feature with a new Tottoko Hamutaro anime movie.

Final Wars will have a 1:50 running time, unlike the recent previous films which all clocked in at 1:30.

An estimated 98,250,000 viewers have watched the 27 Godzilla movies. With the 28th film, Toho is hoping to break 100,000,000 total viewers.
