Exclusive Zetsubo Sensei OVA Announced
Japanese consumers that purchase all three upcoming Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei Blu-ray boxed sets will be qualified to receive an exclusive mail-away Zetsubo Sensei OVA episode. Ironically, after purchasing the Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei, Zoku Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei, and Zan Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei anime series on Blu-ray, consumers will receive the exclusive bonus episode on DVD. Total SRP on the three Blu-ray sets including tax is 66,400 yen ($808 USD).

Whatever happened to the U.S. DVD release of this anime?
I don’t know how everyone else feels about releasing exclusive episodes when selling an expensive DVD / Blu-Ray set or a limited edition tankouban packaged with an exclusive DVD (like Ah! My Goddess) but I believe these actions help fuel the downloading of illegal anime. Don’t these companies realize that most people can’t or won’t spend that kind of money to secure a special episode of a particular series, especially when, in this case, many people already bought the series on DVD? Most people will turn toward torrent sites looking for the episode later when someone uploads it. Anime companies would be better off selling the individual episode to the public in the first place and profiting from it instead of setting themselves up to have people download it and pay nothing.
