Disney to Work With Japanese Anime Studios

The Walt Disney Company has announced plans to work with Japanese anime studios to develop new animated programming for Japanese television broadcast. Disney will collaborate with Madhouse on the production of a new, original anime series titled “Stitch!”, based on the Lilo and Stitch franchise.

Disney is also developing “Fireball,” a 3D CG sci-fi gag comedy short film, for Japanese release.

The Disney-Toei produced project “Robodies,” initially announced in 2006 as a television series, has reportedly developed into a short film that will air on Japan’s Disney Channel this summer.
