Bandai News from Otakon

As expected, at last weekend’s Otakon convention Bandai Entertainment announced its acquisition of distribution rights to the Mobile Suit Gundam Seed anime series.

The domestic release of .hack//SIGN DVD volume 6 will be delayed somewhat to allow the inclusion of home video episodes 27 & 28 as part of the planned 2 disc set.

Bandai representative Jerry Chu seemed to confirm rumors that Bones Studio does have plans to produce an additional 4 home video episodes of Wolf’s Rain.

Superior Defender is a full digital rendered Super Deformed Gundam series for younger viewers produced by Sunrise Studios of Japan. The series will be the first Gundam series to see release in America before its Japanese debut. In Japan, the series will be known as “SD Gundam Force.”

The original Saber Marionette R OAV series and CLAMP School (Clamp Campus Detectives) TV series released on VHS by Bandai Entertainment will not be re-released to American DVD.
