AD Vision Announcements from Anime Expo

AD Vision is currently sponsoring the Anime Trax audio CD label in association with Right Stuf International. Anime Trax recently released 2 Irresponsible Captain Tylor soundtrack CDs and is planning on releasing many more anime soundtracks in the future. AD Vision announced plans to move forward with their own anime music label within 6 months, issuing domestic versions of 100 different anime soundtracks on a schedule of 4-5 CDs per month. To keep costs and retail prices low, there are no plans to include booklets, liner notes or lyrics in any of AD Vision’s domestic soundtrack releases.

AD Vision announced and re-confirmed several licenses at Anime Expo including:

Kotetsu Tenshi Kurumi (Steel Angel Kurumi)– apparently both TV series and the OAVs

Puni Puni Poemi, the 2 episode Excel Saga side-story OAV series

Chivas 1-2-3, which will be re-named “Sorcerer Hunters on the Rocks” for the American market

The Gensomaden Saiyuki and Eden’s Bowy [sic] TV series

You’re Under Arrest Special, technically the second You’re Under Arrest TV series which aired as part of the Wonderful variety program

The Zone of the Enders OAV and TV series, Sakura Taisen TV series and second OAV series, Neoranga, Noir and Power Stone TV series

Aura Battler Dunbine– no word on whether this is the 1983 TV series or the later OAV series

Mahou Senshi Riui (Rune Soldier Louie) TV series, the current fantasy/comedy written by Ryo Mizuno, creator of Lodoss War

And apparently the not-yet produced Sin 2, a new Urotsukidoji series, a new Cutey Honey TV series. AD Vision has still not decided on whether or not to license the Bannou Bunka Neko Musume (Nuku-Nuku) TV series or Blue Seed 2 OAV series.

Nadia: Secret of Blue Water will be coming to American television. More detail will be revealed at the San Diego Comic-con International, July 19-22.

AD Vision originally licensed the second and third Slayers movies and the second Slayers OAV series several years ago. Delays in licensing rights have now been solved. The movies Slayers Return and Slayers Great will be released first, followed by the 3 episode Slayers Excellent series. Apparently a third Slayers OAV series is in the works. There’s still no word on an American license for movie 4: Slayers Gorgeous.

Golden Boy may be released on domestic DVD soon. A second Golden Boy OAV series might be produced in Japan.

The first Those Who Hunt Elves TV series is currently in the DVD mastering process.

Translation has started on Excel Saga.

The Miyuki-chan in Wonderland OAV might not be released on DVD because of its relatively short length. Major retail chains don’t want to carry an expensive 30 minute DVD with limited sales potential.

AD Vision is planning an American theatrical release for the You’re Under Arrest movie, and possibly a theatrical release for the Nadesico movie.

AD Vision explained that the massive re-writing of the original script for the dubbed version of Orphen was due to working with Activision and tailoring the animation that spawned the Playstation 2 game to jive with the game that was released in America first.
