Question:
I’m looking at the Full Metal Alchemist movie import special edition set and I’m thinking, “Wwhy do American companies not release special editions like this?” It seems to me that domestic “special editions” of anything basically means it includes a special box, another disc, and a cheap t-shirt or trinket. Do they think that nicer special editions won’t sell well because of the price?
At this past weekend’s Megacon convention, FUNimation announced that “Shin-chan” will return to Adult Swim in late spring or early summer. And a Shin-chan “season one” DVD set will be released in August. The episodes will be placed in the order that they were dubbed for American release rather than in their original Japanese broadcast sequence.

The hiatus is blamed on declining sales. Reportedly the magazine’s readership in 2006 numbered around 420,000, down from its height of 1.4 million readers in 1989. Monthly Shonen Jump is the sister publication to the more popular Weekly Shonen Jump Magazine.

Question:
Do you think any of these anime will be licensed:
Pumpkin Scissors is from Gonzo and Geneon’s name is in the credits, so either Geneon or Funimation could pick it up.
Code Geass. The design is from Clamp, and its from Sunrise. Bandai Ent. used to always pick up their shows.
Angel Heart. I was a big fan of City Hunter and although I believe that ADV Films’ releases of the series did not do well, they eventually released the sets. Any chance anybody could pick up this anime? (Glass Heart is really pretty too.)
