Viz Addresses Inuyasha Missing Scene

Viz has issued an official response to charges of editing out part of the ending to episode 21 on Inuyasha DVD volume 7.

VIZ did not delete any scenes from the original masters, nor will we in the future… When the episode in question was aired in Japan, episode 21 & 22 were aired as an 1 hour long special. When VIZ received the episodes from the Japanese licensor, it came as two separate episodes. The long episode was broken up into two shorter episodes, by the licensor in Japan, they decided where and how to cut the show.

According to Anime News Network, the sequence in question was included in the Japanese television broadcast, but is not included on the Japanese DVD release.
