Viz Acquires Berserk Movies

Viz Media has acquired the domestic distribution rights to the current Berserk: The Golden Age movie trilogy. The first of studio 4°C’s anime film’s based on the dark fantasy manga by Kentaro Miura opened in Japanese theaters on February 4. The second film of the initial trilogy will open in Japan on May 23. Viz will release the first movie, Berserk: The Golden Age Arc – The Egg of the King, domestically this fall.

I didn’t see this coming at all. While I did expect these films to eventually reach America, I didn’t even remotely anticipate that the release would come courtesy of Viz.
