John Woo and Chow Yun Fat, who have partnered on numerous Chinese action movies including A Better Tomorrow 1 & 2, Once A Theif, The Killer and Hardboiled, have both agreed to collaborate on a Playstation 2 role-playing game based on Chow Yun Fat’s famous gangster persona, incorporating John Woo’s trademark slow-motion gunplay. The game could be release by the fall of 2002, but no further details have yet surfaced.

The Suikoden side-story game Suikogaiden Vol.1: Swordsman of Harmonia, due out this fall, will be the first of a two-part “digital novel” game for the Playstation, similar to typical life-sim style adventure game. The game is a side-story to Suikoden 2, and will feature cameo appearances from Suikoden 2 characters.

To no one’s surprise, Working Designs has delayed the US releases for Vanguard Bandits and Lunar 2. Vanguard Bandits recently passed Sony’s approval process and is currently in production for release in late June, once the Lunar 2 demo disc that it will include has been approved by Sony. Lunar 2: Eternal Blue has been delayed until August, with no reason specified.

A new Japanese TV commercial set to Emiko Shiratori’s “Melodies of Life,” the theme for Final Fantasy IX, reveals that Final Fantasy IX will on sale in Japan at 7am on July 7th, for a retail price of 7,800 yen (7 on 7/7 for 7,800yen).
