Vertical to Publish Limited Edition Black Jack Manga

Vertical Inc. has announced plans for a dual format release of Osamu Tezuka’s Black Jack manga. Vertical’s paperback editions of Black Jack manga will retail at $16.95 per volume. The first volume will be released on September 23rd. The paperback volumes will be translated versions of Black Jack manga collections published while author Osamu Tezuka was still alive. The books consist of select Black Jack stories chosen and sequentially ordered by Tezuka.

Vertical will also publish expanded hardcover editions of the first three volumes for distribution exclusively by Diamond Comics. The $24.95 hardcover editions will include the content of the softcover versions, plus additional stories which were not originally selected for inclusion in the initial Japanese collections. The hardcover volume 1 will be limited to 1,500 copies. Only 1,200 copies of hardcover volumes 2 & 3 will be printed.
