Update on Final Fantasy XI Limited Edition Soundtrack

AnimeNation has been informed by our Japanese suppliers that Sony of Japan has decided to limit production of the Final Fantasy XI Limited Edition version soundtrack to only 30,000 copies. Because Final Fantasy XI is an online game requiring additional PS2 hardware to play, sales of the game and its accompanying soundtrack are expected to be lower than that of previous Final Fantasy installments. The entire production run of 30,000 copies is already accounted for by Japanese wholesalers and retailers, and Japanese wholesalers are expecting allocations to severely reduce their originally anticipated allotments. Resultantly, it’s anticipated that relatively few copies of the limited edition version soundtrack make it into the hands of international retailers and collectors. AnimeNation is currently accepting pre-orders for this CD, but we cannot guarantee the availability of the limited edition version. (The description on the product page suggesting that we expect to fill all orders will be changed shortly.)

The limited edition Final Fantasy XI soundtrack is a double CD set housed in exclusive packaging that comes with a photo book and 8 minute long DVD only available with the limited edition version CD set. The soundtrack is scheduled for Japanese release on June 5th. The standard version soundtrack will come with different packaging, a different photo book and no DVD. The standard edition soundtrack will not be a limited production item.
