Upcoming TV Anime Announcements

Avex Trax has confirmed that Gonzo Studios (Blue Sub No. 6, Gatekeepers, Real Bout High School) and TV Tokyo (Saiyuki, Love Hina, Argent Soma) will produce the animation for the upcoming Final Fantasy anime TV series under the direction of Yoshikazu Miyao (Macross Dynamite 7, Blue Sub, Vandread, Turn A Gundam). Miyao-san will also provide the series’ monster designs. The series is tentatively scheduled for debut in October.

Other noteworthy anime TV series scheduled for debut in October include the Sister Princess-style shoujo/life-sim Tenshi no Shippo (Angel Tail); the life-sim shoujo/”moe” series Kokoro Toshokan (Heart Library); the Gonzo Studios/Pioneer co-production Hellsing; the X TV series; Gonzo Studio’s high school/mecha action series Full Metal Panic; a traditional 2D anime TV series for Hoshi no Kirby, Nintendo’s pink ghost mascot character; Gonzo’s highly anticipated Vandread: The Second Stage; the seeming Aika side-story Blitz Tactics Najica; Chitcha na Yukitsukai Sugar (Tiny Snow Fairy Sugar), the new series from DiGi Charat creator Koge Donbo; Gekito! Crash Gear T (Turbo), the latest entry in the Pokemon style anime + CG mecha style of Beyblade; and new TV series versions of popular classics Cyborg 009, Babel II, and Captain Tsubasa.

Editor’s note: I used the word “moe” (pronounced “mou-eh”) to describe Kokoro Toshokan. This seems to be a “new” Japanese word used to refer to “cute” and “sweet” girls and anime shows such as Card Captor Sakura, Kotetsu Tenshi Kurumi, and Hanaukyo Maid Tai. The word was used in this context in the Comic Party TV series and has appeared in Japanese “otaku speak” that we’re aware of, and may originate from a combination of Sakura’s Kinomoto’s common expression and the fact that both Kotetsu Tenshi Kurumi and Hanaukyo Maid Tai were created by anime studio M.O.E. (Master of Entertainment).
