Upcoming DVD News

In response to consumer criticism, Multimedia 2000 has announced that they have reduced the “upgrade” price of the Bubblegum Crisis DVD mega set. Fans that now trade-in their original three Bubblegum Crisis DVDs may upgrade to the re-mastered four disc set by including an additional $29.95 instead of the previously announced $39.95.

Some people have expressed concern that the recent press release for the second volume of Neon Genesis Evangelion on DVD did not mention French and Spanish language tracks. According to ADV the DVD will have these features. They were accidentally omitted from the press release.

According to Image Entertainment the second Fushigi Yuugi DVD boxed set, which will contain the second half of the TV series, episodes 27-52, will feature bonus music videos and non-credit endings.

Media Blasters president John Sirabella posted some interesting information to Anime on DVD’s forums. While discussing the Rurouni Kenshin DVD 2 delay and the dates for the next two volumes, he indicated that volume 3 should be very close to its target date of October 31st. And the only reason that the November 14th date for DVD 4 may be delayed a bit is because they’ve decided to add an extra episode to bring that volume up to 5 episodes. They’re looking at getting the Rurouni Kenshin releases caught up as soon as they can, so much so that they’ve recently invested in a Sonic Solutions system so they can make their DVD masters in house.
