TV Asahi Ranks Japan’s Favorite Anime

The TV Asahi network has compiled its 2006 ranking of Japanese viewers’ favorite anime television series, as determined by votes from a wide, mainstream Japanese audience. The top ten are:

01. Fullmetal Alchemist
02. Neon Genesis Evangelion
03. Paniponi Dash!
04. The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
05. Mahou Sensei Negima!
06. Mobile Suit Gundam
07. Bleach
08. Prince of Tennis
09. Rozen Maiden
10. Strawberry Marshmallow

The network also compiled a list of favorite anime selected by a survey of 100 Japanese celebrities. Their top ten results were:

01. Lupin III
02. Dragonball
03. Doraemon
04. Ashita no Joe
05. Mobile Suit Gundam
06. Dog of Flanders
07. Sazae-san
08. Candy Candy
09. Attack No. 1
10. Urusei Yatsura
