The Powerpuff Girls Vs The Cartoon Network

The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that the Cartoon Network has begun an active search for new sound-alike voice actors to replace original voice actors of the Powerpuff Girls for the upcoming Powerpuff Girls motion picture. For the inaugural Cartoon Network theatrical production, the Cartoon Network has offered Tara Strong (Bubbles), Catherine Cavadini (Blossom) and E.G. Daily (Buttercup) union scale pay with no back-end participation, which agents for the voice actors argue is simply unacceptable. The Powerpuff Girls franchise earned more than $350 million dollars last year, yet the Cartoon Network has offered the voice actors only roughly $7,500-$10,000 each for their participation in the movie. “The actresses’ agents would not confirm the offers but said the back-end participation is more important that the upfront payment.” Back-end participation would consist of a percentage of the total profit earned from the marketing and merchandising of the Powerpuff Girls movie. A representative for the Cartoon Network confirmed that the Network is searching for replacement voice talent willing to work cheap, but has not given up hope on negotiating a contract with the original voice actors.
