Spirited Away Highest Grossing Non-American Movie Ever

On its way to outgrossing Titanic and becoming Japan’s highest grossing film ever, last week Hayao Miyazaki’s Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi officially became the first movie non-American produced motion picture to gross more than the equivalent of $200 million American dollars. (According to Variety Magazine, non-American produced qualifies as “foreign,” making Spirited Away the world’s highest grossing “foreign film.”)
