Slayers DVDs Still Defective

The original Slayers first season DVD boxed set released by CPM was marred by “inverted phase audio.” This defect was only noticeable to consumers watching the DVDs with a surround sound audio system and is not noticeable when the DVDs are played in standard 2 channel stereo, such as TV speakers alone. CPM recently released a remastered version of the Slayers DVD boxed set which was supposed to correct this audio flaw; however CPM has now issued an official press release confirming that the “corrected,” remastered DVD set still has the same audio flaws on “some” of the discs. Anime on DVD specifies that remastered DVD discs 2 & 3 still suffer from inverted phase audio. The replacement trade-in program for consumers that owned the original DVD set has now been “ceased… pending the results of… investigation of what went wrong, and what it will take to fix it.”

RSI has announced that they will hold all original defective discs already sent in through the trade-in program until genuinely corrected replacement DVDs are available.
