Silent Hill Movie Rumor False

According to Coming Attractions, the recently publicized announcement of plans for a live-action movie based on Konami’s Silent Hill video game franchise is totally false. There is no Silent Hill movie in development. It seems to be unclear whether this false announcement originated as an April Fool’s joke that went too far, or whether this was an intentional malicious rumor. It’s also unclear exactly where this rumor started at. New Line Cinema, whose name was mentioned in association to the project, has flatly denied that any such project ever existed. Konami is apparently now also aware of the rumor and attempting to squash it. The Bloody Disgusting website that originally broke the “news” has now reported that it seems likely that the “Dark Aura Entertainment” company that originally announced ownership of the film rights is a hoax company.
