Sazae-san Biographical Special Announced

The Fuji TV network has announced a tentative November broadcast for its “Hasegawa Machiko Monogatari ~Sazae-san ga Umareta Hi~” (The Story of Machiko Hasegawa ~The Day Sazae-san Was Born) live-action TV special. The special will adapt Hasegawa’s own 1979 autobiographical essay manga Sazae-san Uchiake Banashi (Confidential Talk on Sazae-san). Actress Machiko Ono will portray the late Sazae-san creator. Hasegawa Machiko passed away in 1992. The special will commemorate the 45th anniversary of the ongoing Sazae-san anime television series, the world’s longest-running animated program.
