Saiyuki Movie in Production

Anime News Service has learned that Studio Pierrot is currently at work on a theatrical version of the popular, recent OAV and TV series Gensomaden Saiyuki. Much of the work on the movie will be done by the TV series staff. The lead voice actors will include industry veterans Seki Toshihiko (Duo – Gundam Wing), Ishida Akira (Kaoru – Evangelion), Hoshi Souichiro (Aiba – Ryvius) & Hirata Hiroaki (Digimon Adventure). Gensomaden Saiyuki is a slightly revisionist version of the famous Chinese legend Journey to the West, best known to Westerners as the source of the Monkey King, Son Goku.
