Pokemon Movie Franchise Reaches 50 Billion Yen

With the 11th “Pokemon” film still showing in theaters, the movie series is expected to reach a total gross of 50 billion yen ($460 million US) today. New Pocket Monster theatrical films have been released annually since 1998. The first film earned over 7.2 billion yen. Subsequent films have earned an average of 4 billion yen apiece. The current film, “Giratina to Sora no Hanataba: Sheimi,” has earned 3.3 billion yen in four weeks of release.
