Pioneer Licenses Lupin

According to Japanese newspaper Nikkei.net, TMS (Tokyo Movie Shinsha), one of Japan’s oldest and largest television and film production studios and broadcasters, has licensed the American broadcast, home video, movie and merchandising rights to Lupin III to Pioneer USA. Since 1971 there have been 228 Lupin television episodes in 3 TV series and over a dozen feature length theatrical and made for television motion pictures. The American distribution rights to some (but not all) of the Lupin movies are split in America between AnimEigo, Manga Entertainment and FUNimation. Exactly what Pioneer’s distribution license includes has not been clarified yet.
