Omocha Box Announces Name Change

In January word leaked out that the partnership of American company Digital Manga, Inc. and Japanese company Broccoli was to be dissolved. As part of the split, Broccoli, a Japanese trading card manufacturer and parent company of the Gamers franchise of anime shops, assumed full ownership of Synch-Point Productions and the Los Angeles based retailer Omocha Box.com. According to Anime News Network, Omocha Box will be changing its name to “Anime Gamers” to closer align itself with the Japanese Gamers retail store franchise. The site’s URL will also be changing to www.animegamers.com.

Studio A.P.P.P. seemingly took American distribution of the Jojo’s Bizarre Adventures animation out of the hands of Synch-Point Productions because of the Broccoli/Digital Manga split. Around AnimeNation there has been speculation that this corporate restructuring has also been the cause of delays to the American DVD releases of Tenshi ni Narumon and FLCL.
