No Japanese support for X-Box?

GameSpot has confirmed that contrary to previous announcements, Koei’s Kessen III historical war simulation game will be released on the Playstation 2 but not on Microsoft’s upcoming Xbox console system. This potential bodes ominous for the American Xbox system as this leaves Konami the only confirmed Japanese third-party developer officially committed to supporting the system.

The Magic Box has reported that Forbes Magazine has published articles predicting less than break-through success for the Xbox, citing poor third party game developer support and a lack of quality launch titles, and a slim possibility for great Christmas sales due to the small established user base resulting from the system’s debut this fall. A lack of support from Japanese game developers will almost certainly doom the system in Japan, the world’s capitol for console video gaming.
