No Japanese Dub on R2 Vampire Hunter D 2000 DVD

Avex Mode of Japan has officially announced that the upcoming Japanese DVD release of the new Vampire Hunter D movie, known in America as Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust, will not include the Japanese audio track. The Japanese DVD version will include Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS audio tracks for the original English language version, but director Yoshiaki Kawajiri specifically requested that the Japanese dub not be included because a the addition of a third audio track would reduce the bit rate for the DVD and compromise image quality.

According to the official Japanese Hunter D site, the Japanese DVD will include the film, a 14 minute “making of” documentary, the Japanese and American theatrical trailers, a 15 second Japanese TV commercial, the 2:30 long international promo reel, a DTS audio track and a Dolby 5.1 audio track recorded by Skywalker Sound.
