Nintendo Gamecube Plans Announced

According to the The Gaming Intelligence Agency Nintendo revealed at the recent Japanese SpaceWorld Electronics show that the American version of the Gamecube will be released in multiple colors, but will be delayed two weeks from its original release date of November November 5th to November 18th, two weeks after the launch of the Xbox. Wave Race: Blue Storm and Luigi’s Mansion were confirmed as launch titles, but former launch titles Eternal Darkness and Super Smash Brothers Melee have been delayed until December 3rd. Pikmin, on the other hand, has moved up from its December North American release date to become a launch title. Animal Forest Plus has dropped off Nintendo of America’s release list entirely and will not be available in English until 2002.

The Gaming Intelligence Agency has published the first image of the totally new look for Link to be used in the first Gamecube Zelda game, scheduled for release next year; IGN Gamecube has posted the video footage this image was taken from. In keeping with the lighter, more “cartoonish” style of the new game, Link himself will be cel-shaded and posses a softer, rounder, more “anime-esque” look than he did in his polygonal N64 incarnations.
