New Xbox Announcements

According to GameSpot, Microsoft has confirmed that the Xbox will debut in America on November 8th with 15-20 launch titles. The system will debut in Japan on February 22, 2002 with between 12 and 20 launch titles.

GameSpot has also reported on several new announcements from Microsoft’s latest Japanese press conference. Namco, Atlus, and From Software have announced support for the Xbox. Namco has announced Soul Calibur 2, the 6th installment of Ridge Racer, the shooting game Dead to Rights, and a currently untitled Xbox exclusive action/adventure game. From Software, the creators of Armored Core, are producing a sci-fi action game entitled Murakumo, and a real time fantasy RPG titled Gaia Blade for the Japanese Xbox. And Atlus has announced the tentatively titled Shin Megami Tensei Online for the Xbox.

Other noteable announcements include Capcom’s Genma Onimusha, an extensively upgraded version of the original PS2 Onimusha, to be ready for the Japanese Xbox launch, Konami’s Air Force Delta 2 and Silent Hill 2- both anticipated to be Japanese launch titles, and the fact that Aerosmith will be providing music for Dead or Alive 3. Tecmo also confirmed that after the American launch of Dead or Alive 3, the game will be further tweaked and upgraded for its later Japanese release as a Japanese launch title.
