New Treasure Unearthed

At yesterday’s Daytona Beach Comic Con I found and purchased this 1979 oddity of anime history for $5.

Osamu Tezuka published his Magma Taishi manga in May 1965. The following year it was adapted into a Japanese live-action television series. The television series was subsequently dubbed into English by Lakeside Television Company and initially broadcast in limited American markets in September 1970 under the name “The Space Giants.” In 1979 FBN Publications published a single comic book “Based on the Popular TV Series.” The interior introduces the comic to readers saying, “Goldar, Silver and Gam, the popular TV characters created by Osamu Tezuka are now appearing in a comic book for the first time anywhere!” The comic features co-writing and art by Richard J. Lynn and co-writing and inking by Pasquale D. Gabriele.
