New Squaresoft Games in the US

GameSpot has revealed that Square’s Playstation 2 title Driving Emotion Type S will be released in the US on January 30th. The American version will feature improvements in game play and control over the Japanese version. The highly anticipated PS2 fighting/action/RPG The Bouncer will be released simultaneously in Japan and the US in March.

According to the Gaming Intelligence Agency Square has tentative plans to bring the Playstation re-releases of Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy IV (originally released in America on the Super Nintendo as Final Fantasy II) to the US next summer with a price of only $20 – $30 each. Like the versions of Final Fantasy 5 & 6 included in the American Final Fantasy Anthology, the Playstation version of Final Fantasy 4 includes new CG opening and ending sequences, but is otherwise identical to the Super Famicom version. Chrono Trigger is identical to the original Super Famicom version but also includes roughly 10 minutes of entirely new Chrono Trigger anime sequences spread throughout the game, and a new “omake mode” that allows players to unlock a record of all the game’s different endings, monster data, a complete BGM player and movie viewer, and maps of the entire game that reveal where all the hidden items are and what’s inside each treasure chest.
