New McDonald’s Hello Kitty Dolls, But No Stampedes

Last year Japanese icon Hello Kitty and McDonald’s restaurants in Singapore made headlines when customer demand for “Happy Meal” Hello Kitty dolls dressed in wedding gowns caused small scale riots. The 119 McDonald’s restaurants in Singapore have just launched the 2001 series of wedding gown Hello Kitty toys to early morning crowds, but no stampedes. Apparently demand for this year’s toys isn’t what it was last year, but McDonald’s is taking no chances, raising the per person limit of dolls to 4 per person per visit and hiring extra security guards to maintain the crowds.
