New Live Action Feature from Anno

Hideaki Anno, creator and director of Neon Genesis Evangelion and director of Kareshi Kanojo no Jijou, has just completed his latest non-anime project, a live-action Japanese movie titled Shiki-Jitsu (The Day of Celebration) which is an autobiographical love story following a girl with “modern loneliness” and a film writer living day-by-day. The movie, set in Anno’s hometown, is premiering its limited theatrical release at the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography on December 7th. When asked about his future anime production plans, Anno replied that this has not yet been determined. Anno’s previous, and first venture into live action movies was “Love and Pop,” an adaptation of a controversial novel about high school girl prostitutes.
