New Initial D Movies to be a Trilogy

avex entertainment’s latest teaser for the new Initial D movie has revealed that the film will actually be the first of three new movies. Masamitsu Hidaka (Kurogane no Linebarrel, Seiken no Blacksmith) will direct Shin Gekijouban Initial D Legend 1 -Kakusei- (New Movie Initial D: Legend 1 -Awakening-) at studios Sanzigen and LIDEN FILMS. Mayori Sekijima (Phi-Brain, Skip Beat) is composing the film’s screenplay. Akio Dobashi (Dance in the Vampire Bund, Yozakura Quartet) will score the movie. The first film of the trilogy will open theatrically on August 23.

I’m slightly concerned that the director, screenwriter, and composer, and neither of the two animation studios behind this production have ever worked on any Initial D anime before.
