New Capcom VS SNK 2 Info

Capcom unveiled a playable arcade version of Capcom vs SNK 2: Mark of the Millennium at this weekend’s E3 convention. The most dramatic upgrades are the expansion of the 2 “grooves” of the original game up to 6 selectable play styles in the sequel, and the addition of numerous new characters.

Both Capcom and SNK now have 3 “grooves” each. The first in each style is identical to that of the original game. The Capcom play style now also offers “Capcom Groove 2” which features the ability to run but use only level 1 super moves, and “Capcom Groove 3,” a Street Fighter 3 style which features no air blocking or recovery but the ability to parry. The three SNK grooves offer very subtle technique differences and resemble the King of Fighters Extra and Advanced modes, and the game play style of Fatal Fury: Mark of the Wolves.

The new characters to Capcom vs SNK 2 include Joe Higashi and Dan Hibiki from Capcom vs SNK Pro, Maki (Final Fight 2), Eagle (Street Fighter 1), Rolento (Final Fight & Street Fighter Alpha series), Chang Kohan & Choi Bonge (King of Fighters series), Ryuhaku Toudou (Art of Fighting), Rock Howard (Mark of the Wolves), and Hibiki Takane (Last Blade 2). Capcom announced that the game would be coming to arcades and the Playstation 2 but did not mention any plans for a Dreamcast port.

Stormchaser Media has published an extensive preview of the game with screenshots.
