New Anime Coming to Japan

Housuke NojiriĀ“s SF novel series “Rocket Girl” will be adapted into a 26-episode series directed by Hiroshi Aoyama (“Anpan-man,” “Azuki-chan”). Screenshots of the character designs by Kyuuma Kinoshita and mecha designs all taken from the pilot film have been published on Housuke Nojiri’s homepage.

According to a September 5th report from the Reuters newswire service, sometime in October, Fuji Television Network will broadcast an anime series based on Sony’s newly-announced AIBO LM series of “entertainment robots.” The two new robots in the series, named “Latte” and “Macaron” (product numbers ERS 311 and ERS 312 respectively) are designed by well known graphic artist Moshino Katsura. No further information regarding the series or its title is available at this time, but the Latte and Macaron robots will apparently be able to respond to on-screen sounds from the animation.

Hard sci-fi action anime in the style of Blue Gender will be returning to Japanese television in October courtesy of the Japanese-South Korean co-production Geisters (German for “ghosts”). The official Korean site features character designs, background information on the series and several downloadable clips.

In response to the unsatisfied fan reactions to the TV series’ unfulfilled conclusion last March, Marvelous Entertainment has decided to continue Hunter x Hunter (pronounced in Japanese “Hunter, Hunter”) in the form of an 8 episode OVA series. The first monthly volume will hit Japanese stores in December. Direction is by Toshi Saga, who also directed the TV animation.
