Namco Founder Funding Film School

Asahi Shimbun has reported that Masaya Nakamura, founder and president of the Japanese video game company Namco, has donated 250 million yen of his own money to the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music to help the university establish a film department. Nakamura explained his generosity by saying, “Movies are a reflection of culture and show Japanese culture to the rest of the world. I would like to see young people trained to produce movies for this purpose.”
