More Info About Japanese Animator Salaries Revealed

The Japanese web version of Wired Magazine has published an analysis of Japan’s dilemma regarding low paid animators. The article mentions that a proposal to establish a minimum wage of 710 yen per hour and 124,960 yen per month for beginning animators was submitted to Japan’s National Association of Commercial Broadcasters in November 2004. By comparison, starting wage for an American animator is roughly the equivalent of 2,500 yen. The article does not state whether the proposal has been accepted and implemented.
