Miyazaki Announces His Retirement Again

Japanese newspaper Sports Nippon has reported that 60 year old Hayao Miyazaki has hinted at his intention to retire after the completion of his current film project, Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi. Miyazaki is known as a precise perfectionist, and has suggested that his age is making it difficult for him to keep up with the pace required by daily animation work. Miyazaki, though, also said virtually the same thing in 1997 as he was nearing completion of his work on Mononoke Hime.
